DVI port as a selectable Imput
How do I set the HDMI and DVI port/s as selectable imputs for DVD player recorders and Cable DVRs? I have a desire to use the HDMI instead of the normal imputs for my Cable DVRs and DVD player/recorder. Do I have to also connect a Audio Cable set with the HDMI or DVI Cable?
Are the HDMI and DVI ports Bi-Directional?
I appreciate any and all advice and help that you may provide.

Yes, Audio is still separate.
Are the HDMI and DVI ports Bi-Directional?
It goes one-way, Out from the source (DVD Players / some Game Consoles / Sat Receivers), In on the receiving end (Recorders / TV / Projectors).
A Receiver is perfect for your set-up. All Equipments that broadcasts audio/video signals goes into it, then from it goes to whatever Projector / TV you have.
You can only connect hdmi devices together, if your dvd doesn't have hdmi or dvi you can't connect it using that input.
if you provide me with models of your dvd player and other devices what you want to use, I can look the details up and provide you a better solution. or if you wish you may ask other experts for help.
Thanks,
Ekse
May i know the model and maker of the device you want to use a HDMI cable
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is hailed as the next
generation of audiovisual cabling. Simply put, HDMI is an all-digital
connector that can carry high definition video and several digital
audio channels all on the one cable. HDMI was first officially unveiled
in 2003, but it's only now that we're starting to see widespread
support for the standard.
