E MACHINE 390
I SWITHCED ON THE MACHINE YESTERDAY. IT ATTEMPTED TO START UP. NORMAL START UP NOISES HAPPENED FOR 15 SECONDS OR SO THEN IT SORT OF MADE A CLUNK CLUNK SOUND, BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RE BOOT AGAIN.
THE SCREEN SAID OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND.
I SWITCHED OFF AT POWER SOUCRE, WAITED A WHILE AND THEN TRIED AGAIN. SAME RESULT.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?

Check CMOS is finding hard drive at POST (power on self test) if present then is the boot sequence set correctly. Is cpu fan running, is hdd and cd/dvd devices running? Is there a display on screen, if yes what does it say ?
Check ribbon cable to hdd from motherboard is good, replace with a known good one and try booting again. Come back with results, for more support.
