Ecs light is on in my '85 subaru wagon gl, the computer flashes red 2 slow 4 fast. What does this mean? my car also will not go over 45mph
The alternator died on us to start this off. we changed the alternator, now car won't go over 45mph. the ecs light would go on, but only on if i've driven 20 min, and would never really affect the drive. Now it's almost constantly on. Hard time starting. It is also very hard to turn sharp, we cannot find the power steering to check the fluid? Alot of components in my car are not attatched to anything, wiring and the such. please help. I bought this car for $300 and can't spend too much into it. Would like to keep it running though. Thanks

The 24 obd code is vehicle speed sensor error [a wiring problem between the speed sensor and the ecm ] the speed sensor is what the transmission basically uses to change gears and regulate speed while u drive u stated wires were disconnected u will have to start with a wire schematic or get a repair [chilton,clymer,reference in local library] manual-u need to start hooking up the wires that are disconnected
Its in limp mode to prevent damage due to major malfunction... this is exactly what its supposed to do when something goes wrong... take to have the codes read and post which codes were present. Good luck and ill wait to hear back from you. Mark
