Electric dryer keeps overheating and blowing thermal fuse
Vent clear. thermostat, hi limit switches test with continuity. heating element shows about 10 ohms which is good. (solved) I believe. took a leaf blower and blew out debris from lint catch chute, then under the drum, then under the heating element cover which will push debris into the drum itself so make sure to vacuum out the inside. ran unit for half hr and now she runs nice and warm not exceedingly hot. was surprised how much lint blew all about. the vent from the back out the house was clear so it was just internal lint causing the unit to overheat and blow the thermal fuse. hope this helps somebody. (not solved) sorry to report that the dryer only cycled once and then blew thermal once again. waiting on new heating element kit, including thermal and thermostat limit switches for the end of sept. will post once again with results.final update and (resolved)thermal fuse blew after about 4 cycles so was determined to clean the part I haven't done prior which was the screen chute. its held on top by 2 phillips screws and in the back by 4 5/16 screws. its a bit of a bear to remove with lots of wiggling this way and that. I finally cut out some of the interfering sheet metal in the back and bent it out of the way and was able to remove the chute more easily. the chute itself was very impacted from the screen of the drum to the blower fins at the bottom. I watched as the unit ran and air seemed to b exiting the house robustly but after cleaning and vacuuming the chute I realized that it can blow a whole lot harder.hope this helps someone else, especially save a lot of time. sorry to see that my unit continues to blow out thermal fuses. so it is not solved as previously posted. in the interim have installed an entirely new vent system to the outside but now waiting on cycling thermostat which I think is the only fuse switch I haven't replaced as yet. one side of the switch tests open(no continuity) so am thinking its the prob. also its very close to the thermal fuse which might explain why that is blowing regularly. waiting on part and will update
