electric fridge for my cabin last year. It has not run properly since. The fridge will light and run for a while with a blue flame but sometimes in the idle mode it goes out. Idle flame has yellow in it. Repair attempts: # 58 Orifice changed, burner removed and cleaned, but still it won't work. Help! Sorry but I don't have the model number and my cabin is over 2 hours away. Thanks. D. Repo
I have to ask, what is idle mode? I've never seen one that runs on idle mode, in a RV in 15 years. Has anyone used a manometer and tested Inches of water column in propane supply to fridge, as well as other appliances? Any I've seen run on propane, are either on, (flame present, or off, no flame present.) Flame goes out completely when not calling for cool.
P.S. a yellow flame is indication of low air flow, (intake air mixture, restricted by spider web, or some other debris) or excessive fuel. I strongly advise that someone certified, check that system before using on propane again, to avoid possible fire. Is this fridge powered by a 12 volt DC supply to operate? If so, there should be no flame when power to gas valve is removed, and you can check that by simply removing connector at gas valve, or check with voltmeter to confirm. If you still get flame when no power, then gas valve is faulty.
