Electric windows go down on its own without key in ignition
We have found our front windows down three times (once during a snowstorm). The car is locked when this happened. We are mystified as to how this can happen with electric windows when the ignition switch has to be on to roll the windows down.

Some year models of MKZ, maybe other Ford products too have problem with windows going down when the lock button is pressed on the ignition key. These models have a safety feature that when you press and hold for two second one of the buttons (look in your manual) on the ignition key the windows and sunroof will open. I was told by the dealer there is a problem with the receiver in car.
this happens to my car all the time and it is a lincoln mkz!!!
Your windows are controlled by a module called a B.E.M( body electric module) this is activated by a signal from a receiver from a transmitter (your keypad). the problem could either be the transmitter or the BEM. you would need to hook up a scanner to pinpoint the cause. regards agwbk.
