Empire DV-235-1 Heater
Heater is old but really runs well with two issues.
1) lighing pilot can be a little difficult due to significant air flow from heater through pilot opening when the cover is open - it is okay if you use a lighter - but matches blow out.
2) pilot always goes out after three days - light again and it runs for three day and out again.

I have this same unit. since the combustion air is coming from outside it causes quite a breeze go outside wrap a towel around the vent, light the pilot so it is self maintaining, then go out and remove the towel. Works every time for me.
Check also for any bad dirty or loose wire connections.
Its Wiring harness connections may need inspection and cleaning.
There is a thermostat which is creating the problem
Check the element connections which are pushed on spade connectors. see if one of
them has come off. just push it back on its terminal and it should work fine.
