Is CEL lit? Yes, have ODB codes read for possible clues. If no CEL, then could be a failed ignition switch but it would be best to know what ODB codes are saved in the history log.
Wow ok let me clarify one thing, if you want to call the malfunction indicator lamp a check engine light go ahead but if you are going to use abbreviations the proper abbreviation is MIL. Next, the ignition switch is most likely not the problem. A number of things could be your problem. Is it getting fuel? Is it getting spark? Is it getting air? Is the exhaust able to flow? Do you hear a hissing sound? What does your engine oil smell like?
