Enigine fail safe mode
My 2006 Expedition Limited has stalled twice and went into engine fail safe mode. I am trying to figure out what is causing this and what can i do to fix it. I have the same situation with 2005 Ford Freestyle (now Tarus X). Failsafe indicator comes on and engine runs limp, after restart the light is gone and the engine is fine. The car's build in system check indicated that all systems were OK.

Sounds to me like the mass airflow meter, cutting in and out. When faulty it can completely shut a car off, and also ingauge limp mode. I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
This problem is due to a bad throttle body ford seems to be having a problem with this and will due nothing about it. Also i tried to order one and now ford has all throttle bodies on hold because the company making the replacement part is tooling them wrong.
