Erratic idling I just replaced the fuel pump on my 1988 Audi 500e, Now the car won't idle properly, I have to pump the accelerator to get the revs up. At traffic lights I have to keep the revs up to avoid stalling, and the car has no power? I also notice that the fuel gauge is giving erratic readings, sometimes even showing empty

Did you change the fuel filter after changing the pump ? And if so it Sounds like you have a vacuum hose off or crossed some where . Is the R.P.M going up and down. And if so it is a vacuum LEAK Check your rubber in take boot, being lose or a crack in it and change your gas cap be leave it or not you have a closed fuel system And if It's defective It can contribute to this
