I had to gently clean the lense with a q-tip with just a hint of rubbing alcohol on it then move the laser carriage all the way out and in two or three times then play a CD for the player to work again. There was a fine layer of dust around the laser so I think that it may be very sensitive to that kind of thing.
Make that a good bit of alcohol and I am not sure about moving the carriage in and out even though that worked the first time. I can hear noise when it's spinning now like something is rubbing against something whereas it didn't do that before. Maybe the tray is not level.Make that a good bit of alcohol and I am not sure about moving the carriage in and out even though that worked the first time. Nevermind, it was a burnt out brushed motor. I fixed the brushes but I can't identify the burnt resistor R967 that burns out because of the shorting motor.Nevermind, it was a burnt out brushed motor.
