Ethernet Disk has bad button, backup info unretrievable
I bought a LaCie d2 Ethernet Disk Mini a couple of years back and hooked it up directly to my network on which to back up vital info and valuable files. It wasn't used for long periods of time, nor was it often left on. Mostly, I turned it on every few months and left it on for a few days while I did computer maintenance stuff. Unfortunately, it will not turn on presently as the button is malfunctioning. Since the disk contains vital backup info of a personal nature (financial records and such), I do not wish to send it somewhere to have it repaired. I am A+ Certified and so felt confident to remove the disk from the case and install it in my MAC so that I could copy the information onto another drive. Unfortunately, the MAC will not read the disk. Is there any way to retrieve the files on this disk? I cannot find the exact product in the "What product is it about?" line below, so I edited the "500" to a "250" which is what my disk is. Thanks for your time. John French

If the switch is malfunctioning then u may have to replace the switch other wise for just turn it on u need to open the drive and short the wires of switch. after tranfering the data u may give it to some technician for replacment of switch.
I would suggest you try the hdd in a windows machine incase the format is not supported by your mac.
If the hard drive doesn't work in either one your best solution is to send it to the maker or dealer to get it repaired or possibly some data recovery service, they aren't cheap.
