Eureka upright is smoking and blowing air rather than suction
When turned on the vacuum smokes and blows air. The roller in the head is turning and I have cleaned any strings, etc from that area. Checked for clogged wand and hose . Could this be caused by a loose belt?

Yes the first thing that I would do is to change the belt...run it for a few seconds and then check the belt... if it is hot then you have found your problem...if it is cool then you need to keep looking...
