If you contact Leapfrog they will replace it for you, they seem to know the problem exists and instead of recalling it they are just replacing them if/when consumers call in. We have had the same problem with previous versions of the Leaspter.
I just called Leapfrog with the same problem and they told me to take a pencil eraser and and erase the bottom of the teeth on the cartridge. Clean the cartrdige pins with a lint free cloth (baby-wipe) soaked in rubbing alcohol. This worked on 7 cartridges that were doing the same thing
