Check your sidestand switch. It is designed to cut the engine out when you release the clutch in gear and your sidestand is down. Sometimes the switch gets covered in road grime and even when the stand is up, the switch is still activated. It is located under the bike near the stand swivel point and usually only needs a good wiping off of the gunk and a genorous application of WD40.
