External harddrive problems
We have a maxtor 3200 and it will not go into our computer its got windows me in to it, why why why . we paid good money for this and have had it less than a year and it just wont hook up to our computer.so if any one has any clue what to do tell us. it didnt come with any disks or anything!

The 3200 will work just fine on ME. The problem is that the drive comes from the factory formatted NTFS which Win9x can't recognize. You'll need to use an XP machine with a 3rd party utility (I use SwissKnife) installed to repartition and reformat the drive as FAT32. (the native XP utility will not allow a partition larger than 32GB) . Incidentally, the 3200 will also work on Win98, Google for 3200_usb_driver.exe and install it before connecting the reformatted 3200.
