Hi, This is generally caused when a small IC is damaged on the circuit board of the drive but you can change the USB cable and check the issue if the problem persist then check the drive with other PCs if you see that the same thing is happening then repair the drive to resolve the issue.
Connect your HDD to USB wait for a minute and if you get any additional icon in systray. Press Start Settings Control Panel Administrative Tools Computer Management Disk Management See anything noted as 'Unallocated Space'? If yes...Right Click on it, Partition it and then Format it. Now open my computers your hdd will be there. If this does not work then you've to connect it to a linux pc. and use mount command and mk2fs to format it. This happens due to a virus. It corrupts autoexe.
