Fan fixed but evaporator solenoid keeps activating at times
Can anyone please explain to me the purpose and why the evaporator solenoid on my dehumidifier activates? im sure its not a refrigerant issue since its only 4 years old but at times if its running alot it will turn the fan off activate solenoid(hear a shhhhhh noise at first thought it popped a line but apparently it dumps the refrigerant into the compressor bypassing the coils) and like 5 minutes later when the woosh sound is lower it turns off and reactivates the fan-compressor runs during this cycle when solenoids activated.
any help would be appreciated bc theres nothing out there and suprisingly the owners manual never even so much as mentions the solenoids presence
thx,
geoff:)

The purpose of the valve is to de-ice the evaporator and the valve is turned on by a timer usually. in normal operation, the evaporator builds up with ice (that is how water is extracted). when the valve operates, to put it simply, the hot gas is routed to the evaporator and hence melts the ice off
