Fan is making clunking sound like it is hitting something
After AC is on for awhile the fan makes a clunking sound which is worse at medium and high speeds. If I turn it off for 1 hour or so and restart it works OK for awhile and the noise starts again. Could this be ice forming? Other than this noise the AC seems to work OK.

Yes, it certainly can be, especially in high humidity. Run AC just about 1/4 way from max and crack the windows. The ac will work better and ice up less.
