Typically, you have to disassemble and replace the switch, however, sometimes you can reconnect the chain inside of the housing, but before the switch.... Surgery is the only way to tell.
this happened to me. I can't find out which switch to buy, however. Called Hunter, gave them all the model numbers on the plate, and they said they don't know what I'm talking about. (Is it my fault there are 9 different model numbers written there?) It's a very old fan, but it seems there MUST be a switch I can buy to replace the one that's no longer working.
