Fax wants to pick up voice calls
This is making me a bit crazy.
3200MFP set to ans/fax.
It is mostly working great except for the following:
When I receive a voice call, after a random amount of time.... but always in excess of 2 minutes, the Fax starts to try to receive.... and keeps trying even though there is nothing out there. It will always happen but the time it takes to do it varies. It never happens when I make a call. (I use a single line for both voice and fax)
I have tried setting it up with the ans machine connected to the line out at the back of the MFP and also just directly into the wall.
The MFP does receive faxes when it should and it leaves the ans machine to take a voice message when it should as well.
But it will always try to receive a fax when a voice call has been received and is in progress for a few minutes.
Any idea.. or is it faulty?

Xerox has what they call a feature that is called Fax priority.
It means no matter what, it will ALWAYS prioritize an incoming fax
Believe me, I have fought this one several times. Xerox Engineering has told me that is how it is designed, to make sure you get your fax.
There is nothing you can do about that except get a dedicated fax line .It is called Fax priority. and you can not over ride it.
