Film Advance Problem
I recently got a pentax k1000, the film advance works fine when there is no film in the camera (or if there is film in there and the back is open) but once I close the back the advance leaver becomes sticky, but movable though the camera makes a wierd sound. I became worried and opened up the back only to find the film loose and no longer in the take up spool. I loaded the film multiple times to see if it was a loading error, but the same thing happened.

Admittedly the only thing i can think of is that you are inserting the roll upside down.. ensure it feeds out in all the tractor wheels

Ksanzo,
The take up spool is cracked at the base causing the spool to slip. The camera must be mostly disassembled to replace the spool ( if available ) . This is one of the very few weak parts in the K1000. send or take it to a camera repair shop for an estimate first. --- or--
separate the base of the spool by pushing down on the gear like wheel and if you find the small crack from the bottom of the spool film slots, very carefully put a dab of super glue on the crack. check both sides of the spool. this works about 80% of the time. however it's better to replace the spool.
