I don't know what might have been making it turn on in the middle of the night. It it keeps turning off while you are watching, you might want to check if: 1) someone is accidentially hitting the SLEEP button on the remote. The TV will turn off automatically 30, 60 or 90 minutes after the sleep button is hit. It can also get hit if you set the remote between seat cushions on the couch and someone moves, etc.
2) Does the TV get enough ventilation to allow heat in the TV to circulate away from the set? Drapes, tight cabinet, etc. The temperature sensor may turn the TV off automatically to protect the TV.
3) Your power cord is not well plugged into the wall or you might have some issues with the wall outlet - expecially if it is an older home (before 1980). Any wiggle of the cord may cause it to disconnect for a very short time - the TV will shut off.
4) This Brand is only available through BEST BUY and this model has a 1-year warrentee. The manual says to call 1-888-BESTBUY for service.
