Flash not working properly
Hello, i inherited this Vivitar 2000 flash from my father with no instructions (thought i'd be smart enough? ha) and attached it to my Canon AE-1 only to find that the pics are coming back with only the right third of the pic in flash, and the other two-thirds in darkness. Can you please tell me what i might be doing wrong?

Try setting the shutter speed to 60. The 2000 has 3 different modes. 2 auto and 1 manual. In manual mode the flash is at full power. In the 2 auto modes the flash meters the available light and sets the power. There should be a table on the back that tells you what to set the appeture at based on distance and film speed. On the AE-1 you will have to set the shutter and appeture yourself. It won't work auto like a Canon speedlight will.
