Check you basics first. Check your oil and your coolant levels. Is there any oil floating on top of the coolant in the fill tank? Is there any 'mayonnaise' like stuff in the oil filler hole? (Both signs of a blown head gasket). When was it last given a Full service? Could be old dirty oil or a clogged oil filter. Does it have this issue only once it warms up to working temperature? That could be a stuck or worn out thermostat.
