Ford ranger 3.0l 1999
She has good idle but when going up on the hill knock a lot and also when shift between 1st and 2st gear she loose power, if you try give more throtle she loose's even more and if stop give gas I feel little more power. If I keep the throtle at the same position while shifiting she does not loose so much.
At the computer just show error 1400 (egr)
I already have changed spark plugs and cables, air flow sensor and cleanned the throtle sensor.
any idea?

The knock is because the EGR not opening or its passages in the intake manifold are plugged. And the Knock is causing the KNOCK SENSOR to ****** the timing to reduce detonation Test the egr by hooking up a vacuum pump to the egr and while idling pump vacuum the engine should stumble and nearly die until you release the vacuum. If it does not or the EGR will not hold vacuum first if it will not hold vacuum replace the EGR then test like I described a bit earlier, If the engine does not stumble at all you need to clean the EGR passages and sometimes this means removing the intake plenm and cleaning that way whic is actually the best and only way to completely remove all the carbon and while you are there replace the PFE SENSOR Or sometimes known as the BACKPRESSURE SENSOR If you need parts only BUY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FORD PARTS BECAUSE FORD HAS SO MANY UPDATES THAT ONLY FORD HAS THE MOST CURRENT PARTS !!!!!!!
If this information helps and it will prove to be correct I have done this hundreds of times while I owned my diagnostic shop for 14 years here in Seattle,
Please give me a fixya Rating Thanks and if you need further help please contact me Thank you, Randy
The problem sounds like ethier one of two things a restricted flow
in the catalytic converter#1 #2 fuel pump my guess would be too
much back pressure causing egr code.
