Fostex mr16 crashed
My experience is exactly the same as finelandcap's. I can access the menu and make the PLEASE WAIT signal go away by scrolling to CD-RW and pressing enter, but there is no response on either Song or System. Is there another way to reformat or get out of this bind? or is the hard drive somehow damaged?

If it says Disc Check then it defenetly is a hard drive error.. it may occur when there is a corrupted file, corrupted files are error that may make any system malfunction and cannot be fixed until that currupted file has been removed. You have probably seen this happen to your computer, but we all now that a computer is easier to fix. On your case, I would recomment you save your data before you do any resets or formating or reflashing software into your Fostex mr16.
As whast you arte doing is very right the songs should work properly after that.but as its not working the hard drive should be checked at the the repair center.if its faulty then possibly the hard drive needs replacement.
My reccomendation: Fostex can probably do a cheap fix, this seems to be a common problem with these machines, if its still in warranty that is ever better replacement wise. The only way you can contact them is through email at http://www.fostexusa.com/index.php?file=contact_us/contact_us Hope i've helped!
You can try to re-flash or reload the firmware of your device. Download the firmware from the manufacturer's website.
Hi, hard drive may not be damaged. You may just have to do a disk check. Check the manual how to do it.
Do not format the drive and loose the data.
good luck.
