Frequent short cycles of the Mastercool swamp cooler
The cooler starts and runs for perhaps 3-5 minutes and then stops for about the same length of time. I beleive there is some way to lengthen the cycle so that is will run longer and stay off longer. It is probably an adjustment in the thermostat. The unit cools nicely but the on/off is annoying and probably not good for the motor. In the desert here swamp coolers are a blessing because we get moisture in the air besides much cheaper to run than the A/C.

Short cycling can also occur in a thermally protected motor if it is overheating. If the other solution did not work, make sure the belt on the motor is not too tight or too loose. A handy person can check the amperage with an amp probe to make sure it is in limits. The adjust the pulley to put it into specs.
When can i use my swamp cooler?
Try to replace the thermostat. Short cycling of motor only happens when the thermostat is set to a very high temperature.
Then try to replace the relay that goes with the thermostat. The holding coil might not functioning well.
