Front wheel drive holden rb gemini
Hi mate, can you tell me why the engine locks up on the rb gemini, i have replaced the engine from an auto, and had to replace flywheel & clutch, i have taken the spacer out from the back of the flywheel then replaced it, but it makes no difference. when i loosen the gearbox 1/2 inch ithe engine becomes free again, any ideas?

Did the flywheel come with the engine
it is unusual to have spacers behind flywheel as the flywheel is machined to fit neatly over the end of the crank to keep it in balance
the bolt holes are not even and you have to turn the flywheel around until you can screw in all of the studs by fingers
I would be looking at the teeth of the flywheel fouling in the bell housing
another reason is that the input shaft is too long and when you are tensioning up the box the input shaft is pressing on the end of the crank shaft to such a degree that the thrust bearings on the crank shaft and the input shaft bearing are under such preload that they refuse to turn
when fitting box to engine it should go in and fit tight without using any bolts to pull it in
