Fuel mix ratio for poulan counter vibe 3400 chain saw; mix ratio
Dontbother 10 replied to my initial inquiry of a mix of 40:1 for the poulan chai saw. After much searching on the internet I I found a site that indicated a mix of 16:1(8oz/gal). To me that seems like a wide difference. Which one should I use?
For the homelite weed trimmer 50:1 is the recommendation. Iwill go with that unless instructed differently.
Anything else you can add will be appreciated.
Thank you
mike

A different site that lists 40:1. http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/4a98e23d38cbda9b88256bf80015de57?OpenDocument
Oil mix is controversial. Some think more is better, todays saws run much faster and carbon up much quicker. Ask the mechanics at a local saw shop. I will wager they say 50:1 regardless of the age of the saw. Me too! The Echo site now says use 50:1 regardless of what is printed in the OM. It is your saw Mike; run what you want.

3400 owners manual states 1/2 pint (16:1) oil to 1 gal.reg. gasoline
1/2 pint (32:1) oil to 2 gal. reg. gasoline
My 3400 manual calls for a 32 to 1 mixture. It has worked fine since 1981.....
