I have had this laptop for years now so it is probably due to fall apart on me; but if anyone can explain why it does not switch on any more I would be most greatful. We have confirmed that the power adapter and the battery are both functioning - the charging light even comes on when they are connected - but nothing happens when we hit the power button.

Any fixable explanations?
