Gaggia Classic Espresso machine
I have a Gaggia Coffee. Recently it is > doing a poor job frothing milk. I replaced the steam > pipe and am using a saeco Pannarello wand.I also replaced the group gasket. The steam comes out enough to swirl the milk but not froth the milk. I Replaced the > steam pipe because I thought it might be Milk Stone. > I also descaled the machine twice. > > Anything I may have missed or can check ? > Could it be the boiler ? Thanks frother spurts, squirts in short intervals and heats up, but doesn't do a proper frothing job anymore. Flat whites instead of lattes and cappuccinos. Forther nozzle also leaks a bit of water when warming up No techie myself, so i don't want to take the whole thing apart before i know what could be the problem. Haven't descaled the machine in ages; could that be the problem? Marc

The most common solution to this problem is to ensure that the inner piece of the frothing wand is properly in place.
otherwise This problem can occur if the metal filter basket in the portafilter is damaged around the edges, or if coffee has built-up on the edges. Ensure that your filter basket is clean around the edges, and if it is damaged, replace.
if the above solution is also not working then you may need to replace the steam valve. Please call tech department at 888-411-5282 so that they can thoroughly diagnose the problem and provide you with the appropriate solution.
It is suggest regular cleaning of your coffee maker according to manufacturer recommendation.
I took everything out, got a small piece of fine sandpaper, held the plunger in with a pencil, turned on the grinder and sanded the round top portion of the grind basket driver. It takes a few times to get a good snug fit that’s still easy to remove.
The instruction manual that came with the pot will tell you to use one cup (measuring cup) of "white vinegar" and fill the rest of the reservoir with regular water. Turn it on and let it perk the mixture through the system. Then perk a couple of pots of plain water to flush out the rest of the vinegar.
The books say to do this once a month to keep things clean and the coffee tasting great.
A professional machine that is plumbed into a water supply must be thoroughly disassembled, and each part soaked in acid, and manually cleaned. Unless your water is exceptionally hard (you should have a water softener inline with the machine in hard water areas) this should only need to be done every 5 years or so. Heads and screens and filters should be soaked every day in a cleaning solution available from any professional machine supplier. A machine that is not plumbed should have a small amount of Puly brand cleaner added to its tank, and run through several cycles every 3 months. Puly is available thru machine suppliers, but there are also several other brands that do the same. Visit your local coffee machine shop for a good cleaner.
Hope this may help;

Sounds to me like there's a leaking gasket or joint somewhere in the frothing system. Your first bet is to check around the parts you replaced - did a gasket get squeezed or seated incorrectly? If so, it'll cause a pressure leak that will keep the frothing minimized. You'll still get the mixes (as you said) but they won't be frothed as they should because the pressure is leaking out along the way. Another idea would be to inspect the nozzle itself for a crack or damage - if that's the case, it'd cause the failure just the same as a leaking gasket could. Check around the parts you've replaced or adjusted first, since you know there was work performed, and that means there's always the chance that something was inadvertently missed, damaged, or (in the case of a gasket) not seated quite right.
Its not heating up too much
ya i think it needs a bit of descaling. A service for the maching would be good and will bring it back to tops
Your on the right track my freind
when the nozzle is cracked or blocked, there isnt enough pressure to make any froth. SO that why its not functioning well
