Gaggia Titanium bought new in Italy. tested it to make coffee ALL OK. tested to see if steam came out and it did. Took it on a plane with me plugged it in coffe good but steam does not come out for cappucino. Wondering if or what I am doing wrong. pressed the hot water button, it says 'hot water....' and then turned the right hand side button counter clockwise and nothing comes out --pins and tubes are NOT clogged. it is after all new, but I checked nevertheless
When you twist the steam knob all the way, it actuates an electrical switch. The first part of the turn just opens a mechanical valve to allow the steam or water to come out but doesn't turn on the heater nor does it start the pump. You need to turn it far enough to trip the electric switch that starts the heat and the pump.
If it still isn't working, then perhaps the switch was knocked loose when it was taken on the plane.
