Galaxy 949 Receive problem
Galaxy DX 949... transmitts fine on low and high power....nothing but static on the receive end.....gives me about a +20 on the s meter of nothing but static. antenna and mic is good....any ideas?

I had the same problem today 8/08/10 was installing a brand new galaxy dx 949 , i used a car lighter adaptor with positive and negative just to test the radio , wow the static was horrible, i think these radios need to be grounded well and power may need to be direct. am trying new installation in the morning will post results.
Is this In your home or car? If home you are probably next to a power transformer outside your home and its picking up the signal from the leaky power transformer. If its doing it from your car perhaps you need to better ground your system. Antenna should be properly grounded as well as your radio. If this does not work let me know............
This sounds as the osolator has moved of freq. to check this you need to put it on a scope
it sound as if the detector coil is faulty.
