Around 30 thou. Move the flywheel around until it is opposite the coil legs and place a single thickness piece of cigarette packet cardboard between the legs of the coil and the magnet on the flywheel. Tighten the coil and that is pretty much as near as is required. Obviously remove the cardboard afterwards. I have never known a saw in the 40 years I have been repairing them, which would not work perfectly with that air gap.
