Garmin 250w goes to compter connected mode as soon as vehicle 12V adapter is attached, why ? I recently updated the software. It is OK on its internal battery and on an AC power adapter. I have tried two 12V adapters

The rear mini-USB port is defective, making the unit think its connected to a PC. The port needs to be re-soldered or replaced. Please see this link:
