Pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug. If poss turn off the gas supply from the tank or have a container large enough to hold the gas remaining in the tank and drain tank. Small bolt or screw hold the float bowl on the carb must be removed and bowl may be a little tight so tap very gently on the bowl on one side then the other to loosen and remove bowl. Needle valve is poss being held in the open position by a small piece of dirt or rust and so the gas supply in constant and the gas is flowing out the vent.. diff mfr's diff setups. You must have patients with this float and valve removal. The float usually has a straight dowel holding it allowing it to pivot so to push up to close and down open the valve. gently remove the pin dowel and the float and needle will be free. You can then lower the float and needle. Be careful not to lose the spring of any parts. The parts are small. Better look long and or take a macro pic to remember how it all looks before you take apart. A small copper wire pushed up through the hole where the needle came from will usually dislodge the dirt. Or spray carb cleaner and allow the obstruction to drip out of the valve seat. Reassemble by placing the needle valve and float back into their rightful places. Check the movement very gently up and down. The closing of the valve takes VERY little pressure and you must never push with force. The float lever touching the bottom of the needle can bend or break. This is calibrated to the gas level required for normal ops. Now look at the inside of the bowl. Make sure there is no dirt of build up that will later come loose and cause this prob again. Carb cleaner works well with a rag to clean the bowl inside and out. Clean the outside edge and area so as not to push dirt inside the bowl when reinstalling the bowl. if there is a diff in height to the bowl then the short or shallow portion will be placed at the hinge point of the float. This will allow the float to drop to the open position and allow more fuel to enter the bowl. Snug the bowl securing bolt and make sure the oring or gasket was still in tact with the bolt and bottom of the bowl. reattach the gas line and pour a small amount of gas in the tank just to get the unit started and not so much incase the leakage is still there. Place the plug wire back on the spark plug and try it out. ALWAYS remember gasoline is very flammable and so be sure no sparks or flames are near. I advise doing this outside the garage and have a fire extinguisher very close because fire with gasoline get out of control Very quickly. Nitrile gloves are a wonderful thing too when working with gasoline too. Good Day!
