Gateway intermittent shutdown
Gateway MD2614 intermittently shuts down. The screen goes blank/white and the only way to get going again is to push the power button to shut it down and then hit the power button again to restart it. I put in a music CD to see if it was a display problem and when it goes to a blank screen the music also stopped so don't think its a display problem. Took out the fan and cleaned it out, cleaned out the heat sink, and cleaned off the old thermal paste and applied new thermal paste thinking it may be an over heating problem. After doing all this it still shuts down. Downloaded a temp monitor and the temps are good. Between 65c and 80c when running. So don't think its an over heating problem. Tried to calibrate the battery using the bios recalibrate and it fully charged the battery then failed due to over voltage. Tried operating the notebook with the battery out and still had intermittent shutdown. Could the power cord be bad? or do you have any other ideas?
