You sugegsted to try new hard drive....does it mean that I iwll loose all the data on my exisitng drive? please advise.

What? not necessarily hard drive, and if it isnt you can still get the data off it. ebay do a 2.5" hard drive to usb adapter that you can plug into any pc and access your lappie hdd.
Yes this is what this means you will need a whole new hd nothing will be on it
