Gateway PC I bought a Gateway PC and installed a hard drive that I had previously in it but the prompt says that it does not detect the hard drive nor the disk drive which are both in good shape. There is no power detected to these devices when I power up. Could this be proof that the motherboard needs to be replaced?

Sounds more like a power supply issue as these are both powered directly by the power supply. check your power cables inside the case and make sure you didnt bump them or leave them disconnected when you installed the harddrive.
