Ge profile je1590sh 02 microwave won't turn off. If the door is closed it is microwaving. The turntable only works when you set the timer but the microwaving happens if the door is closed.

I'm somewhat handy, know my way around disassembling, reassembling, soldering etc. Is this something I can fix myself or would I be better off taking it to a pro? I paid around $550 for this thing and my husband wants to throw it away. I would like to at least try fixing it first. Before I crack it open I was hoping for some guidance or information about where the problem might be and how complex a repair it is.
