General electric cb radio mod # 5811b has no power
I have received a 40 channel general electric cb radio from a trucking company the owner of the radio had a massive heart attack and died The widow had purchased this for her husband a few years back and has worked great. However now after i have got it it has no power when hooked up I have verified that the fuse is good and checked with a meter i do get power to the on /off switch on the back side of the switch going to the board when i turn it on so now where do i go from here What do i need to check next i am very capable of testing and replacing any part just need help on what to check next Best regards always Michael (FIXYA EXPERT)

It was a cobra and it was made for walking and talking and pluging into the cigarette lighter also. when I pluged up the batteries got way too hot and burned up the radio circits. I believe the reason was the regular cheap batteries I had in it, instead of the rechargable ones I got later, after I got another free one, was the cause. I'm getting a midland model 75-288. I believe that's the right model#, but you remove the battery pack before you hook up to the lighter socket. hopefully, it won't be a problem this time, but I'm going to get a test run and make sure I'm not getting any power surges. What do you guys think? And thanks for the feed back.
Is the mic plugged in ??? , most radios wont even light up if the proper mic (wiring) isn't connected properly
Does anything seem to work? Does the meter light come on? Apply power and follow the circuit, testing along the way. You should be able to discover where the open circuit is that way.
You need a schematic of the radio to help with circuit tracing. Possible open speaker?
