Genie Garage Door Opener - The door won't stop going up and down
I had a repairman out to fix my ancient (1976) garage door opener. He got the opener to work but couldn't get the door to stop going up and down. He said he made a few calls and talked with some knowledgable people about it but he is stumped as to how to fix it. It has a screw drive. He did not use the remote control to operate it, so I was looking through the manual(s) & was wondering if the Radio Controller/remote & the Transmitter just need to be recalibrated/tuned. Maybe it has something to do with the stop limits? What parts would my repairman need to fix it? I'm just trying to get things fixed as I have to sell my home and can't afford a new opener. Thanks, Meg

On the back (maybe the side) is a screw adjustment called 'torque setting'. This needs to be turned CW just a bit (clockwise) this is a motor current sensor that changes with age (like the rest of us) and a little tweak will do it!

Go to my 'knol' on google to see photos...
On some models it's called 'close force' and 'open force' . It will let the motor have a bit more current to open and close.
