After power cut (which it is used to) can't switch on. It reverts back to stand by in a second. It is on long enough just to see the on-screen words in the top right hand corner.

I think the backlightof your tv is dead or about to be
I have exactly the same problem however leaving it off didn't help me i need more idea's
I just left the TV off and it must have reset itself. It did it twice. First time it was OK after half an hour. Second time it was nearer an hour.
