Got following error: Load Error! Press any key to reboot
Dear Expert,
Please note that I just finished downloading the Recovery and Applications/Driver DVD Satellite M50/M55 utilizing the corresponding CD. When the CD is finished I get the following message: "Load Error! Press any key to reboot...." but when pressing any key and the same message appears "Load Error! Press any key to reboot...". Please help!
Thank you for your prompt answer.

This problem is indeed caused by a faulty MBR but there are solutions other than zero-filling the drive.
If you can get access to a RipLinux CD there is a little utility called Testdisk that will write a new MBR code to the first block of the drive. I just did this on a Sony PCG-K15 this morning (after cloning the drive just to be safe) that was giving the same error of "LOAD ERROR- Press any key to reboot" and it worked like a charm. The machine booted right up.
Hope this helps...
I had the same problem last night. Turned out it was not the OS disk, which was on an SATA port, but a secondary, non-bootable disk on the IDE port. Evidently that secondary disk was dead, and its presence prevented the motherboard from booting from the good OS disk. I found this by accident when I removed both disks from the computer and put back only the OS disk, which then worked fine. I verified this by installing both disks on another computer. OS disk was fine, but the bad secondary disk prevented the other computer from booting.
Also, I think "load error..." is the motherboard BIOS talking to you. Hitting F8, etc, only applies once the boot process gets started, which it was unable to do.
The circumstances I was confronted with when a customer brought his Toshiba Satellite M35X-S1492: He received the Load Error! Press a key to reboot error. He was smart and had a backup of all his important files. He also had his Toshiba Recovery CD. So he did a destructive recovery (erased the drive and did a clean install. When finished, he still received the same error. I replicated his efforts and also received the error message. So I had a look at the Recovery CD and discovered that it appeared defective as if moisture had seeped into a third of it. So I used a Dell XP Home OS Reinstall CD to boot the machine. I deleted the only existing partition and did a clean install of XP. End of error message. Activated Windows without incident over the internet an downloaded the latest drivers from Toshiba. No problems since then. BTW, thanks for the tip from techneck09.
The disk can be damaged (read errors)...if it is impossible to read it automatically asks you to reboot
