When I turn on my GPS, the error message displayed is intellinav is not a valid CE application.

Sounds like your firmware or sd card is corrupt, unfortunately this is common on these. I created a dvd with the map and program data to reload everything in your unit, it also updates the map data to the last version issued. you can find it in ebay by searching for finedrive 400 map...
