Trying to figure out why my check engine light is still on had previous work done and still it comes on, i know theres exhaust/fumes leaking because i can see it on the driver side under the hood. would welding a small leak be sufficient or should i replace the whole thing?

A crack in the exhaust manifold will definitely cause the Check Engine light to come on as the O2 sensor is detecting exhaust gasses that have too much oxygen. The computer adjusts the fuel mixture and you end up wasting fuel and burning a lot of it in your catalytic converter (which will eventually clog and fail).
Welding is usually not an option - but if someone will do it and guarantee the work - go for it. Otherwise, this can be a fairly expensive job. Your regular mechanic might be able to do this work - but you may have been luck at an exhaust specialty shop like Midas or Meineke.
