Gutting the hole
I am using a impact tool to drive sheet metal screws and some of them are stripping out the hole. What is the proper torque setting for 16 ga. sheet metal and a 10-24 x 3/8 self threading screw? Does RPM matter?

The hole dia should be about the same the same as the screw shaft width excluding the thread, as 16g is 1.5 mm your torq should be low and use slow speed to maintain full control .try using a power screw driver (pistol drill ) design and set the torq just enough to power through
