Had same problem, here was my deal
I had the same problem with my kicker amp. Adding a capacitor with a new car battery, problem solved!!! That guy is wrong. It doesn't matter how much more the rms is for your amp to your sub. As long as it is 10% more. Even if you have lets say... 2 dub 300 rms subs, with 400.1 watt kicker amp. It works for me!!! Have had my subs for about 1 year, absolutely no problem. It could be the wiring, even if it's dual or quad, you just have to check all wires, and i have wiring charts from EXPERTS, so if you need, i will send to you. My email is well, too many hackers, just keep in mind, i've never owned an amp or sub to blow where the sub wasn't getting enough or way too much power, it is MYTH get over it. Thanks, the REAL DEAL, from local ALPHA OMEGA c.club.
