Had to restore computer to factory defaults, now computer not recognizing new monitor and still showing "default monitor settings" graphics and pictures are pixelly and I tried unsuccesfully reloading monitor

You will have to reload the driver for yor monitor. Get it from Videoseven for your operating system.
Default monitor settings would suggest that you have not yet installed the drivers for your graphics card.
Right click on my computer, select properties then the hardware tab.
Check all drivers have been reinstalled.
